Bring "Crestwood High School" Back to Fulton County
We the undersigned - made up of alumni, former students, parents and staff members - of Crestwood High School respectfully request that you consider naming the new high school being built on Bethany Bend "Crestwood". From 1972 until 1991, Crestwood High School was an active and vibrant learning environment known for producing great SAT scores and college graduates by the hundreds as well as competitive sports teams across the board. The Crestwood we all know and love was converted to Sandy Springs Middle School in 1992. Since then several high schools have been built in North Fulton County, but none have been named Crestwood. Crestwood's neighbors and main rivals (Milton, North Springs, Roswell and Riverwood) all have survived and continue to thrive. Naming the new school "Crestwood" is a smart and solid business decision in addition to satisfying the emotional needs of thousands of graduates to have a "home". Simply put, a passionate group of alumni - many of whom still call Fulton County home - have pledged to organize and fund a "Crestwood Alumni Association" with the goal of working with the new school's leadership to mitigate ever-growing funding gaps. The group will raise money and then work with the "new Crestwood" to supplement county and booster club funds. The new alumni association will elect officers and raise money annually, as well as provide twenty years of history and support for the new Crestwood family. The beginnings of this group can be seen on Facebook.com where the "Crestwood" page has over a thousand members. This group is the only group that the new school can look to as a source of potential additional funding. No other group will come forward with such potential... and all we want in return is a place to call "home". Again... please bring back Crestwood High School!!!
