The Northwoods Association of REALTORS® is a non-profit membership organization that is comprised of over 400 REALTORS, appraisers, title examiners, home inspectors and other real estate professionals in the Northwoods region. We are petitioning the Vilas County Board today to request that the online GIS land map in use prior to the recent change be restored to production status, and we ask that the county continue to use and maintain it into the future.
It has recently been brought to our attention that the Vilas County GIS land mapping software has been migrated to a new system with no consultation with the many real estate professionals in the Vilas County area who depend upon the online maps for the conduct of their businesses. Furthermore, this change was implemented without first ensuring that all information available in the old system was presented in its entirety in the new system with the same level of detail offered previously.
Our board of directors met on September 20th and approved a motion to petition the Vilas County board to retain the "legacy" map that was previously in use and that proved very useful to our members. The new mapping system has been found to be missing key information, and some of the information that was changed does not provide the same level of detail as the previous map. This is already causing delays in property sales, and we strongly recommend that Vilas County reconsider whether it is in its own best interests to delay and to potentially void real estate transactions in the present economic climate. REALTORS and other industry professionals already face many challenges in bringing a sale to closing due to pressing timeframes imposed by banks and federal agencies; to add another hurdle will only make the challenge of restoring the fragile housing market in this area more difficult.
An email was recently sent to the Vilas County board by Kim Schaffer of Northwoods Title & Closing Services, LLC that notes some of the problems with the new mapping system, and we greatly appreciate her efforts and concur with the issues she noted in her correspondence. We ask at this time that the Vilas Board please reverse its decision to switch from the AutoCad legacy map to a new map program, and that it reinstate and continue to use and update the AutoCad map. This map served real estate professionals very well and was largely considered "the best" online mapping system in our 5-county area. In other words, please do not fix something that was not broken.

I spent half the morning trying to navigate the new map interface and it is just as frustrating to click through as everyone said in the comments. We are still compiling your feedback to send over to the board because they need to understand that this is not just about a preference for the old look but about the actual data being broken or hidden.

as a realtor this new software is a total headache. change it back please.
The old system was much faster and had way better detail. Why did they switch to this clunky thing?
The old map worked perfectly for years. we need that functionality back for our work.
BRING BACK THE OLD MAP! The current one keeps crashing and is impossible to navigate.
The new map is frustrating to use and missing basic info we need for daily property lookups. bring back the old one.
please restore the previous system which was outstanding. thank you
