Snow days for students in NYC have been canceled and changed to remote learning. We barely get any snow in NYC and any time us students get snow it barely lasts and we finally get a snow day and switching it to remote learning sucks. Please sign to stop these changes and let one thing be how it used to be. Times have changed and let one thing stay the same. People are very depressed this year and a snow day might actually save them. Please, everybody is so depressed right now and help people feel joy.

I have been reading through the comments and seeing so many of you talk about the same heavy burnout I feel every single day. A day off to just breathe is not a luxury because it is a mental health necessity that we are being denied.

Seeing this kind of energy makes me realize how many of us miss the simple joy of a real winter morning off school. I started this because I am tired of losing every small piece of normalcy we have left, and it means the world to see you feel the same way.

Kids need to be allowed to be kids. Downtime and play are just as important as formal learning.

Even though we don't have to go to school in person, doesn't mean we shouldn't get breaks. We are STILL kids and need to go have fun outside. Online school is exhausting and having snow days can make things feel a little easier and we can have fun.

Completely agree! Now is not a time for rigor. It’s a time to embrace wonder and to find joy in nature - and one of the best opportunities is enjoying the snow!! Children will learn and grow 1000 x more outside on a snow day than staring at Zoom and struggling to complete online assignments.

All things considered this year, a snow day should bring reprieve to students who need to study remotely, and not just converted to a "regular remote learning" day. If anything, snow days caused by storms could make remote learning worse due to potential power/system/application outages or failures. Snow days should be implemented and defined as they were pre-COVID and pre-remote learning. Give NYC students a break from all of the craziness that's happened this year (and give teachers the breaks/time to plan that they DESERVE).

You're definitely speaking for my 9 year-old kid as well as all the other NYC students who could use a snow day. Thank you!
