Purpose of this petition is to respectfully request that Helen Zourdos be allowed to serve her 20 month sentence via home confinement so she can care for her 95 year old incapacitated Mother who suffers from dementia and other serious health conditions- including COPD, chronic respiratory failure-requiring daily oxygen, congestive heart failure and bladder cancer. The compassion sought us so she does not have to live out the last few months of her life without the care, consolation and love of her daughter by her side, especially when she lacks a he cognitive ability to understand why her daughter is absent

Please let Helen serve her sentence at home to care for her ill mom. Her mom deserves to be able to be at peace during the little time she has left. Prayers to the family

My comments mirror what the petition has laid out but I also want to offer some of my own personal details since I have been at my parents' home day and night to attempt to substitute the care my mother was providing my grandmother with. I witness the deterioration in my grandmother every single day. I see the pain in her eyes and hear it in her voice every time she calls out for my mom or asks when my mother will be home- it's beyond heartbreaking because there's no way I could explain or have her understand what is going on. All she knows or understands is that her daughter isn't here. I get sick every time she asks me why her daughter left, how could she just abandon her like this. When is she coming home. My mother is my grandmother's only child and a daughter who has always been there and taken care of her in the 30+ years of my grandmother living with her. Again, being here on a daily basis I not only see the decline in her health but the decline in her willingness to live and hold on. That's what worries me the most. How much longer can someone at her age and in her condition hold on for? That's why we're circulating this petition...it's outside the scope of any other considerations - all we are asking for is for others to think of the circumstances and sign the petition to demonstrate that these kinds of circumstances do matter...
