Mr. Bruce White, a highly esteemed and influential retired teacher is now banned from all GECDSB schools. In April, the school board alleged that Mr. White "uses the captive audience in the classroom to intimidate students”. He was also told that “most students find him abrasive and... made them feel inadequate."

This ban originates from when a grade 9 student’s parent contacted Superintendent John Howitt, wanting to sue Mr. White for harassment. Mr. White was not informed of his actions, nor would the board release further details to the public. If current situations persist, Mr. White will not be able to continue his night and Sunday math programs, and many other affiliated events including math contests and school trips. We firmly stand in support of Mr. White as he has touched the lives of thousands of students, parents, and teachers alike. Without doubt, he is invaluable to our education system.
