I just received the news that Barnes & Noble has officially committed to opening a location here in Danville. Seeing this dream turn into a reality for our students and families is truly overwhelming. Thank you for believing that our community deserves this space.

Help bring Barnes & Noble to Danville! A store like this would be a tremendous deal to our community and the surrounding communities. Colleges like DCC and Averett University as well as local high school, middle schools, and elementary schools could benefit from having a local bookstore. Most people see it as an inconvenience to have to drive an hour or two out of the way to go find a new book and would prefer to have the option to ride into town and find a book in a short amount of time. An optional DVD/Blu Ray/CD section would be beneficial to help draw in more customers as would a Starbucks or another shop like it. Please hear us out! Sign the petition and help us get a Barnes & Noble!

Seeing 250 signatures on this petition makes me think of all the times I have made that long drive just to browse a store. It is encouraging to know so many neighbors feel the same frustration about our lack of options.

I have spent this week reaching out to local representatives to explain why our students and families deserve bookstore access right here in town. The silence from corporate offices is frustrating but it only motivates me to keep pushing for the community I grew up in. Your stories about driving for hours just to buy a book are exactly what I bring to every conversation I have.

As a college student, it would help to have a bookstore nearby. Barnes & Noble will also bring employment opportunities that Danville needs.

As a second grade teacher in the county outside of Danville and mother of two teenage sons, I would love to see B&N open a store in Danville. Reading is a struggle for children in our area and better access to reading material could be a tremendous help in improving our children's reading abilities! We need books! Reading is the key to everything.

We definitely need one! And with all of the efforts and improvements in the River District, a Barnes & Noble would be a wonderful addition!

I love reading and always have, However, when they closed the bookstore in the mall years ago there was never anything proper to replace it. Now just to get books, I drive less than an hour away to go to a Barnes & Noble, I don't mind but having one in Danville would be a huge improvement.

As a local teacher and an author I feel that a community the size of Danville / Pittsylvania county is sadly remise in its advocation of literacy. A community with limited, subsciption only access to a library and no book store is not giving the attention needed to literacy and reading appreciation. A book store would be a step in the right direction!

Danville, VA desperately needs a Barnes & Noble Bookstore. The kids who have required reading have to travel to Greensboro or Lynchburg. No all kids/parents have access to computers to order books. It has so many advantages in the things it offers. Danville would benefit a great deal.

As a local educator, I find it appalling that our community does not have a quality bookstore. Please consider opening a location in Danville, Va.
