For the past 3 years the Rat's Mouth (lawn in front of FAU Stadium) was the home for all football tailgates prior to home games. Students, alumni, and many other individuals enjoyed the environment created right outside the stadium, especially when they get to welcome the team making their way to the stadium. It is a great gameday experience that we had, making our school unique. It would be a shame to let it go.

Unfortunately, in puzzling fashion, the Athletics dept. decided to move the tailgating area to Lot 5, the parking lot on the far side behind the stadium. Not only that the lovely grass is now replaced by asphalt (hotter in the blistering Florida weather)., each organization would get an unknown number of parking spots and permits for tailgating, which is nowhere near to what we had before. In addition, it is endangering the wildlife near the lot by bringing tailgates over there.

In addition, It would encourage drinking and driving since most people would opt out to tailgating in off campus locations, and the fact that the stadium isn't in walking distance from most places would risk lives.

Hurting the wildlife: There are animals constantly crossing Lot 5 to and from their natural habitats. The noise, mass of people, and litter in the Lot 5 would endanger their lives! Tortuga Trail and the remainder of the Owl Sanctuary, plus more animals would be in danger.

Now it's time for the student body to speak up! Help us by signing and sharing this petition. We would show the decision makers at FAU that we mean business and would not give up our Rat's mouth!

FAU Athletics loves to say "Football in Paradise" but how can you still use that phrase when your students are tailgating in a confined, out of sight parking lot. Hey FAU, you ask me for donations all the time, here's an idea: ask me for a donation to keep the Rat's Mouth in front of the stadium. Go Owls!

Keep the traditions going. FAU always says they want to start traditions, but it's not a tradition if you change it. Future Greek housing and changing of the student section shouldn't have anything to do with it. Go Owls.

The Rats Mouth brought an energy and excitement to every football game. It encourages more students on campus to go to the games. It was definitely one of the highlights of every football game at FAU.

it would make sense to keep the taligate on the rats mouth because it's a bigger area and a safer area as well.

This is why our school will always be searching for an identity. As soon as we start building a consistent tradition a new group comes in and wants to change it. I for one want to be able to bring my kin to a football game in the future and allow them to experience a long lasting tradition.

Bring it back! I DJ every tailgate and it's a big part of recruitment to Greek life and to the school in general!

This is supposed to be tradition, and FAU is ruining it. Not only is it a hazard for the students to do Lot51 it's also going to destroy nature!

If you move the Rat's mouth to the north side you will kill it! Change it back!
