Hello everyone, and welcome to the new "Rocky Point Project" online petition! We all remember growing up in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's with the best amusement park in New England...Well in the Mid 90's due to financial struggle, the park we all loved and would take our families to in the summer to enjoy amusement rides, the Diner Hall, Live music, pool, beautiful water, and just have the best summers of our lives. Many people met, had first dates and amazing experiences that we can all recall. Even the smell of popcorn and cotton candy that hit our nose as we entered the park will stay with us forever...Well Rhode Islanders, we need to bring it back!! We need our children to experience what we once did when we were younger. Let's bring in thousands of new jobs to Rhode Island! Let's rebuild the amusement park and stop having people leave Rhode Island every summer to go to Six Flags. Let's put Rhode Island back on the map!! I built this page to start getting as much talk and support from RI as possible. This page is so that all of us as a team can post ideas, pictures, memories, stories, and work together to get Rocky Point rebuilt!!! Unfortunately with the land being occupied in Warwick, we may have to build the park in another city, but let's put our ideas on the table. I will be putting together numerous petitions over the next few days to start getting names and support. I am also trying to find blueprints and layouts of the original park so that we can rebuild the old park, but also use extra unused land around it to extend and make it bigger and add new rides as well. Lets give Six Flags a run for their money!! Let's rebuild Rocky Point!! If this gets enough signatures I will take it to the local news station and see if we can get our story and our project out there. Spread the word and get as many friends and family to sign as well. I truly never imagined that twenty-five hundred people would feel as strongly about those old memories as I do. Seeing this kind of response is entirely due to the community effort you have all put in. It is humbling to see how much this place still means to so many of us.

I have spent the last few nights reading through your stories about the summer nights and the smell of popcorn at the old park. It humbles me to see how many of you carry these memories so deeply because this movement truly belongs to all of you.

I am honestly stunned by how many of you remember the park just as fondly as I do. We are nearing one hundred signatures and I truly believe that reaching that mark this week would show everyone that our memories are still very much alive.

I spent many many days at Rocky Point in my childhood. Love this place. My husband's grandfather owned it years ago...he put the carousel in the park. It was his recipe for the clam cakes and chowder! I would love to see it bringing hot to others again. ❤
I love this idea, I for one am sick of every year driving 2-3 hours, out of state. Giving my money to another state, when I could be driving 20-30 minutes employing teens/ youth of the community keeping taxes down for others. It's just a no brainier for me
At 51 years old, my favorite memories were at Rocky Point. Shore Dinner Hall, Battle Of The Bands on The Midway, Music Express...Merry Go Round... Time to pass it on to a new generation. Bring it back, and I will bring 10 friends on reopening day.
My family came to RI every summer to stay with my Grandfather. It is my Mom's home state. Every year on my birthday we went to Rocky Point. We always had the clam chowder and clam cake supper. I loved looking over the water from the top of the ferris wheel.
Every single time I went to ROCK POINT I had a great time concerts games rides electric boat day then when I turned 17 I worked there loved this place a great part of RI's history would love to have it back so my kids could experience it too!!!!

Ride operator, mechanIc and park patron for many years. I want my kids and grandkids (when my kids are old enough to have kids) to enjoy the same experiences that my friends and I all had. They would put down the technology and enjoy some great clean fun.
