The board finally caved and Kristin is back as our head coach. This was a shameful display of arrogance from leadership but we forced them to do the right thing. Keep your eyes open to ensure they actually respect the program moving forward.

Kristin Pugh has been head coach at Holmes Run Acres Pool for 15 years. She was fired from her position in what many feel was a rash decision without consideration for the team as a whole. Kristin offers a vast wealth of knowledge of swimming technique and how to teach children those skills. But much more important than her incredible coaching skills she truly cares about all of her swimmers. She has a special gift that Holmes Run Pool will not be able to replace. Kristin should be reinstated to her position and an inclusive conversation should begin to help the team move forward as the truly unique and special team that it has always been.

The board thought they could quietly push Kristin out and hope we would just move on. This wave of support shows them that we have no intention of staying silent while they ruin our program.

It's unfair to remove a head coach for fifteen years just because of a few complaints from people who really doesn't know who and what kind of person Kristin is..let's say a good person made 1 simple mistake.. People will look at that 1 mistake and not for a million goodness that the person has done.. Kristin won't be a head coach for over a decade if she is not fair.. Just.. Dedicated and good enough to be a head coach... Bring Kristin back for she deserves it..
We have nothing but fond memories of Kristin being our sons coach.Her patience and kindness were obvious toward all the children. She and her whole family are a HUGE part of the Hurricane family. It would be great loss to the team to not bring her back.
I currently live in Australia but Kristin was my coach throughout elementary school before I moved away. I would not have become the swimmer I was and am or without her knowledge, support and care. She will be a coach and friend throughout the rest of my life. Don't be the idiot that stops her from doing what she's amazing at, in a place where she is considered family!!!!!!
I believe that change is necessary for next season and moving forward. I do not support dismissing Kristin, but rather I agree with Greta that we need to reinstate Kristin, and hire someone to compliment the contributions Kristin brings to this team.
To let you know we are active team grandparents. Our grandchildren Max and Luc Cruz who used to live with us and now live in CA for school year and return to us to swim with their summer team, have benefited greatly from Kristin's coaching. She deserves so much more than what was dealt her so abruptly with no recourse or compassion.
I have had the privilege of knowing the Pugh family since the late 80's. I had the honor of sharing the pool with Kristin and Katie while at HRA and FCHS during the 90's. I was never the swimmer that either of them were, but the way I was treated, respected and loved always made me feel equal. The focus was, and always should be, teamwork! Kristin's dedication and compassion are skills that any parent would want in a coach. I have moved away from the area but given the chance, I wouldn't hesitate to locate her so she could coach my girls. I have followed the Hurricanes the past several years and what she and Clayton were able to achieve is nothing short of amazing! I am very sorry for whatever reason is behind this change. Clearly this is all somehow a huge misunderstanding. I hope that the mistake is recognized soon and this can all be cleared up and Krisitn can be back on the side of the pool at HRA where she belongs! ~Jen Hope (maiden name: Berryhill)
Kristin was a spectacular coach that led myself and the team with enthusiasm, strength, and love. She deserves that job more than anyone I know.

Knowing Kristin Pugh's character, drive and talent, I cannot imagine a legitimate reason for letting her go from her coaching position with these kids. Please take a step back and reconsider the decision. This is a woman whose life is fully vested in her craft. You will not find a better mentor for the team.
