Knowing Kristin Pugh's character, drive and talent, I cannot imagine a legitimate reason for letting her go from her coaching position with these kids. Please take a step back and reconsider the decision. This is a woman whose life is fully vested in her craft. You will not find a better mentor for the team.

I have had the privilege of knowing the Pugh family since the late 80's. I had the honor of sharing the pool with Kristin and Katie while at HRA and FCHS during the 90's. I was never the swimmer that either of them were, but the way I was treated, respected and loved always made me feel equal. The focus was, and always should be, teamwork! Kristin's dedication and compassion are skills that any parent would want in a coach. I have moved away from the area but given the chance, I wouldn't hesitate to locate her so she could coach my girls. I have followed the Hurricanes the past several years and what she and Clayton were able to achieve is nothing short of amazing! I am very sorry for whatever reason is behind this change. Clearly this is all somehow a huge misunderstanding. I hope that the mistake is recognized soon and this can all be cleared up and Krisitn can be back on the side of the pool at HRA where she belongs! ~Jen Hope (maiden name: Berryhill)

It's unfair to remove a head coach for fifteen years just because of a few complaints from people who really doesn't know who and what kind of person Kristin is..let's say a good person made 1 simple mistake.. People will look at that 1 mistake and not for a million goodness that the person has done.. Kristin won't be a head coach for over a decade if she is not fair.. Just.. Dedicated and good enough to be a head coach... Bring Kristin back for she deserves it..

We have nothing but fond memories of Kristin being our sons coach. Her patience and kindness were obvious toward all the children. She and her whole family are a HUGE part of the Hurricane family. It would be great loss to the team to not bring her back.

Kristin was a spectacular coach that led myself and the team with enthusiasm, strength, and love. She deserves that job more than anyone I know.

I currently live in Australia but Kristin was my coach throughout elementary school before I moved away. I would not have become the swimmer I was and am or without her knowledge, support and care. She will be a coach and friend throughout the rest of my life. Don't be the idiot that stops her from doing what she's amazing at, in a place where she is considered family!!!!!!

Rehire Kristin! Tremendous coach, loves the team, knows the kids, selfless service, and completely wronged by this unprofessional firing.

I've know Kristen for 15+ years, while I haven't been in touch with her personally in a few years, my daughters have (one is 28 the other 31). I am not sure why the decision to let her go was made, but I do know it was made in error. Kristen was, and I have no doubt still is, a mentor to kids of all ages. Kristen is a dedicated, professional, knowledgable role model for all. Kristen and all the Pugh's have shown over the years to be pillars of the community, and steadfast leaders of HRA. I'm not sure what vendetta Mr. Davey has against this proven leader, but I can only guess he must have slipped in the pool and hit his head. Maybe someone needs to look at this man and ask why he's making such a poor misguided decision!

I believe that change is necessary for next season and moving forward. I do not support dismissing Kristin, but rather I agree with Greta that we need to reinstate Kristin, and hire someone to compliment the contributions Kristin brings to this team.

Kristin is an amazing coach, friend and leader, and no parent or "team rep" can change that fact. She's a hard working coach and she gives her time and energy into each and every swimmer. Rehire Kristin as our coach, now.

Kristin always compliments me and she is so supportive. This was my first year on this team and I loved her coaching. I've been a better since she coaches me.

I support Kristin and hope that this sad and disturbing situation can be resolved in a civilized and amicable fashion.

Nobody can do it better... nobody. But hire another coach who will balance her well. Kristin has the love, the compassion, the knowledge of the strokes, the sport, and the statistics. Bring someone in who will complete the puzzle.
