We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the City of Murfreesboro, represented by the Honorable Mayor Tommy Bragg, and the City Traffic Engineer, Ram Balachandran, provide a traffic light at the entrance of Brentmeade subdivision located on Memorial Blvd. south of the Compton/Thompson Lane intersection where Brentmeade Dr. and King's Ridge Drive adjoin. Since the City of Murfreesboro opened King’s Ridge Drive across from the entrance of Brentmeade subdivision, traffic volume has significantly increased due to the alternative access to Siegel schools through Regency Park subdivision by way of King’s Ridge Drive, in addition to the traffic using Brentmeade Dr. to bypass the Compton/ Thompson Lane intersection. The increased traffic flow through Brentmeade and the growing congestion on Memorial Blvd. makes exiting Brentmeade subdivision more dangerous than ever. Cars leaving Brentmeade in the mornings are forced to travel south in the north-bound lane on Memorial Blvd in order to access the south-bound traffic lane. Cars turning west onto King’s Ridge from Memorial are typically waiting in the turn lane 6 or 7 cars back, making it impossible for cars on Brentmeade or King’s Ridge to access Memorial. This same scenario occurs in the afternoons as well. To add confusion to the mix, there also cars trying to proceed straight across Memorial either from Brentmeade onto King’s Ridge Dr. or from King’s Ridge Dr. onto Brentmeade. It is only a matter of time before a fatal accident occurs. We propose that the City of Murfreesboro place a light at the Memorial/ Brentmeade Dr/ King’s Ridge Drive intersection. This effort will ensure safe access onto Memorial Blvd. It is important to note that residents of Brentmeade subdivision have made several inquiries to the City Traffic Engineer, Ram Balachandran, regarding the necessity of this request. They were advised that a new light would be placed at Osbourne Road and Memorial Blvd., which would reduce the volume of traffic. Residents of Brentmeade and Regency Park have noticed no change in volume, and continue to strongly recommend that a traffic light be placed at the entrance of Brentmeade subdivision before someone suffers from a fatal collision. We trust that the City of Murfreesboro, the Honorable Mayor Tommy Bragg and the City Traffic Engineer, Ram Balahandran, will give this petitioned request the time and consideration it deserves.
