Please rebuild the Rockaway boardwalk out of wood

If they rebuilt the Long Beach boardwalk with wood, I don't see why they can't rebuild ours with wood. As long as they don't use wood from the rainforest.
'Boardwalk or Cement walk'? A Boardwalk is porous and will absorb the smell and spray of the sea. Even on a hot summer day it will not reflect the heat of the sun. While a Cementwalk will not retain the aroma or spray from the ocean. In addition it will absorb and retain heat for longer period of time. A boardwalk feels more comfortable than walking on cement. So 'Boardwalk or Cementwalk is not really the question. The question is, is a boardwalk cheaper to build and if not how can the funds be raised. Protection is certainly important but waiting years to rebuild a new boardwalk is so disheartening to this community. The amount of time and money building the ridiculous structures with a mere two block boardwalk gives us nothing to do except walk to the bathroom.
The problem is they want it to be a big time consuming project with the emphasis on protection. We can cover the existing piers with wood and concrete in all of the damaged areas by this Memorial Day for a fraction of their big plan. A complete bardwalk NOW !
We don't need a flashy shiny cold metal concrete "boardwalk" we need and want wood, easily repairable and will save the city money in the long run
Wood only works!

We deserve a boardwalk! Our neighborhood is filled with the cream if the crop hard working middle class people! We live in Rockaway because we love the beach! We need our boardwalk to be restored the way it used to be! We love the smell of the wood on a hot day and the wind that can blow between the cracks in the panels! It's point blank not the same without the wood and not having it the way it was would be a constant reminder of the hell that was sandy.
