Looks like the administration of Bluefield High School have decided to take away prom from this years graduates. Reason being? A select few hooligans decided to cause some trouble at last years prom. So this is a good reason to take it away from everybody? I really don't think so! As a Bluefield alumni, prom was one of the highlights of high school. I loved Bluefield and would give anything to go back and re-live it, but this situation upsets me. Lets show Bluefield how many people want prom 2k16! We're Bobcats. We Bleed Blue. Together we can do anything! Sign.

As a past bobcat myself, I am very disappointed to hear that grad class students of this year are suffering from the actions of students last year. Maybe the school board, parents and students can come to an agreement or an alternate plan such as a grad dinner instead of a dance.

With all due respect Mr. Coady, prom should not be cancelled due to last year's experience. Heightened expectations perhaps, but I still remember singing at our prom with fond memories. Prom is a rite of passage and all students should not be penalized for the actions of a few.

It is unfair that the actions of a few in the past is taking away the right of passage for this years graduates. Hire extra security. Pass the cost on to the students if you must. Better yet ask Bluefield alumni to serve as security. I bet the response would be amazing!

This is a shame not only are you hurting the students but you are hurting local businesses such as hair stylists. Girls spend most of their high school years dreaming of prom what gives the right to crush those dreams for someone else's mistakes.

My daughter Alexia graduated 4 years ago from Bluefield..she is an amazing young lady..If prom had been cancelled at that timedue to some other students causing disrupt..I would of been upset..do not hold back a milestone for most when others do wrong..

Instead of cancelling prom, some security or police presence would be more appropriate. If you're still upset about damage from last year find out who did it and have them charged, don't punish students that had nothing to do with it.
