We, the fee paying parents, require Bloom Education to consider this online petition regarding your recent communication. The communication advised your strategy for fees for Term 3 2020 in relation to the current global pandemic crisis.

Bloom Education, who are responsible for the business and day to day running of our school, Brighton College Abu Dhabi, state their Corporate Values to be :

Passion, Integrity, Togetherness, Caring, Ambition, Inspiration.

Collectively, as your fee paying customers, we feel that the recent communication fell short of your stated Values and lacked the social and moral responsibility you have to the school community at this unprecedented time, when many parents are struggling financially and emotionally.

Many other school businesses have communicated a full package of options to parents including hardship funding, flexible payment terms and many other workable solutions. They have indicated their parents should not be required to accumulate debts, so that the children, who should be at the heart of this crisis, should not be affected and continue with their human right to education. Your communication to parents provided none of these solutions and we require the school to reconsider how it supports both parents and staff during this time.

We therefore request that you reconsider your decision to as follows :

A.) Reduce Term 3 fees by 20% across the board and implement a better flexible payment strategy for parents.

Establish a Hardship Support Fund for those who are unable to afford to continue with their children's education. This can be a package negotiated on a case by case basis and allocated to need.

B.) Guarantee the continuation of full salaries of all teachers and staff during the period until school returns to normal.

C.) Ensure that those parents who have already paid in full for Term 3 are consulted on how the 20% discount is applied to their account and choices are provided in the form of credit for the subsequent Term and/or refunds are provided.

D.) Provide a detailed revised strategy on how the school will be supported during this period.

The time to support the school community is now and we have never needed your cooperation and support more. You have the opportunity to demonstrate how you practice your Corporate Values.
