In light of the existing situation, we, parents of Raha International School, support the decision of the school’s closure for the safety of its students. However, we feel that the communicated reduction of fees, and its mechanism is unsatisfactory.

We feel that the online learning platform is not a complete alternate, but rather a supplement to the children's education. Parents have to put in their own time and recourses on a daily basis, assisting the children to complete the daily assigned lessons, not to mention the added mental strain and pressure of working from home simultaneously.

In addition to this, the children are not attending school for the entire semester, neither using the premises, utilities, facilities nor any of the physical extra circular activities, which when closed for the entire semester, provide savings for the school.

We also believe that RIS current offer of a fee reduction structure is insufficient, and has to the revised, to at least 30 % with full refund for all students.

Over the course of last few weeks, we have seen businesses and companies suffer, families across the country taking the brunt of this situation- employees are being laid off, forced to take unpaid leave or are facing up to 30% pay cuts. Most Businesses are struggling and commercial activity has now come to a complete halt. These are severely difficult times for all of us.

Considering these prevailing conditions, we expect Taleem to lead the way by example and therefore, we collectively appeal to Taleem Education for a minimum 30% Fees Reduction for the Third Term 'E-Learning Program'. For those parents that have already paid, we request their payments to be adjusted against the next upcoming semester, in case the students remain in school, or to be refunded in full, for the exiting and graduating students.

These are difficult times for all of us, and we hope Taleem will play its part at the expected level.
