The feral swine population on the Black Warrior WMA is out of control. The governing bodies of this WMA seem to be oblivious to the issue or they are ignoring it. This petition is to force them into action. Please sign if you are concerned and would like to see some actions taken.

Updates

March 20, 2015

I spent all morning walking the trails and the destruction left behind by these animals is getting worse by the day. I am putting together a full report of everything I have recorded to present to the management office. Thank you for keeping the pressure on because they can no longer pretend this problem does not exist.

Seeing this level of support reminds me how many of you have watched this forest get destroyed by these hogs. This momentum proves that those in charge cannot continue to pretend this problem does not exist.

Need to extend the season past deer season during the cooler months. Most people don't care to hunt them when it hot outside.

Swine are extremely difficult to control. They are extremely intelligent animals (as smart or smarter than most dogs) and learn quickly. Normal control methods do not work effectively because they learn to avoid hunters and traps. An effective system must utilize numerous methods, and must change methods often. They breed quickly and are efficient at consuming an areas resources so any plan must be able to be implemented rapidly. Many people don't realize that the pigs are not like deer and cannot be controlled or managed in like manner. Nighttime hunts with thermal imaging and suppressed weapons work well...for awhile. Baited traps/catch pens work well...for a while. Poisons work well...for a while. You have to think ahead and change up location and method

Really need to open up seasons and regulations for hunting feral swine. They could open all WMA for hunting these habitat destroyers!

I live in Bankhead and I see sign of hogs all the time. They are destroying mine and my family's propery which consistes of farm land. This is getting out of control and the problem is growing rapidly. We need some action taking.

I am a concerned deer and turkey hunter. The hog population in the black warrior wma. Hog droppings with turkey egg shells have been found. And any deer hunter that hunts Black warrior can tell you food for deer is hard to find out there. Without a good acorn crop and hogs demolishing greens our deer population is suffering also

Look up how many pigs one female sow can have in one year! Then imagine the remote woods of the Bankhead and how hard they are to access and you'll realize that there is a huge problem
