We, the residents and friends of East Village's Tompkins Park would like the New York CityDepartment of Parks & Recreation to permit the installation of a six-sided wooden memorial bench enclosing a decorative potted tree in the place where "Bendy Tree" stood for decades until being removed on September 20th. A creatively designed bench by a local artist and a potted tree over "Bendy Tree's" stump would best honor the unique character of the beloved "Bendy Tree".

Updates

October 14, 2014

The Parks Department has acknowledged receipt of our proposal packet. A formal meeting is currently being scheduled to discuss the structural requirements for the memorial bench installation.

Miss that tree every time i walk thru the park. Such a dumb idea to cut it down in the first place.

Spent so many afternoons sitting by that tree. Really hope the parks dept listens to us for once.
