We, the residents of Putnam County, support and encourage all efforts, including those of New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Putnam County officials, community organizations and interested individuals, to preserve and restore the 1760 Gothic Revival Belden House as a unique reminder for present and future generations of Putnam\'s historical, cultural and architectural past.
It is a disgrace that NYC has allowed this beautiful, historic structure to decay. We cooperate with NYC using our land and we have kept the water safe for city residents for 100 plus years. NYC should restore the house and give it back to the county.

I grew up gazing at this beautiful house daily, and calling ‘good night’ to the horses in the small barn across the road. DEP’s neglect to the building has been depressing to watch over the years. This historic architecture should be preserved.

I live right by this property, on 1 Meadowlark Drive. Belden house always sees many visitors and it would be a complete waste to spend taxpayer money to tear down a property like this that is in reality appreciated by the townspeople.

Even in its decrepit state you can see the beauty. Honor will come to those who restore it, shame to those who would demolish.

Promises haven't been kept. This was supposed to be restored, not allowed to deteriorate. This is a historical building and should be restored and maintained as such.

We need to protect and preserve what is left of our historic buildings. This house is an architectural gem that could be used to educate the public and be utilized for something useful as well. It would be a tragedy to see this be demolished a living history that could never be returned.
