We the undersigned wish to register our objection to any proposed displacement of the Grade 2 Listed Milestone (List entry No: 1394763), in order to facilitate a vehicular access from the Upper Bristol Road, Bath into the Lark Place allotment site where a development of 5 houses has been approved. We believe the access, which would be a private driveway, is ill considered and inappropriate in that it will put pedestrians crossing the 8.5 metre width at risk from vehicles exiting the driveway with limited sight lines and would create potential vehicular conflicts on this very busy stretch of road. Any proposal to tamper with the historic fabric of Bath must be questioned but in this case displacing the Listed Milestone which has been in place since 1800 and compromising the safety of pedestrians and passing vehicles for the profit of developers should be stopped.

Seeing this level of support confirms that I am not the only one who values the history and safety of our street over private development. It feels like we are finally being taken seriously by those who think they can simply sweep our heritage aside.

that stretch is already a nightmare to cross as it is! adding a driveway there is just asking for an accident. leave the milestone alone.

Keep our history where it belongs. That milestone has been there for centuries and it should stay put. Stop letting developers ruin everything for their own profit.

Total madness. Why mess with a listed landmark just for 5 houses? Bad idea.
