BASSINGBOURN BARRACKS
Its 5-30 am in the morning and I have just woke up in a sweat. I had a dream of all the homeless soldiers on our streets. What could we do. My dreams answer is Bassingbourn Barracks. That's the place our government should give to all ex services that are homeless. It has everything there. As for those that have served there know. Ex Service men (ha) we dont need no contractors we would have enough experience to run the whole place else-selves. That's exactly what ours lost boys need, comradeship, a sense of purpose, And as they just kicked out the Iraqi trainee troops or whoever they where what a better time to get hold of the place only if i got enough comments could we do something.

Seeing one thousand people back this idea makes me realize I am not the only one losing sleep over our brothers left on the streets. My heart is full knowing so many others recognize the potential of Bassingbourn Barracks to offer our veterans a home instead of nothing. We have hit a real milestone today.

Seeing the numbers climb reminds me of the brothers I see sleeping in shop doorways every night. If we can cross the one thousand mark today it proves that our veterans will never be forgotten by those of us who know the truth.

The best idea because as I am led to believe ex-servicemen have to have residence for 2 years before they are entitled to get a council house... this is so wrong .. I support it all the way... it is just up the road from me so if you need any help.. contact me
It would cost the mod very little! Yes they may pay utilities but ex forces are generally very hard working. They'd soon be in their feet and in a job THEN paying taxes back to the government amongst this having a roof over theirs and their families heads
Fantastic idea similar to what the Chelsea Pensioners do. I'm sure it would give some well needed comrade back to the guys and girls who have sacrificed a huge amount for their country. About time something like this was suggested. I hope it works. Ex AAC
This is such a fantastic idea to help those, who have helped to keep us safe and warm in our cosy homes, without a worry in the world. These troops have been to hell and back. It's about time we helped them have warmth and shelter and love in their lives
A home for ex service personnel who have no roof over their heads is the least they deserve and also a fitting use of a fantastic barracks and one that has been home to many British and foreign service men and woman since the second world war

A good idea. Ex service personnel are well capable of taking care of administrative tasks and developing the project to achieve maximum potential for users and providers. How, civil servants have a duty to sell public property for maximum financial gain.
