I am creating this petition for the benefit of Barbara Jordan Culinary Arts students. This petition will benefit us students because we would get the education of "common topics covered in culinary schools include baking, catering, desserts, handling and choosing fresh meats and vegetables, ethnic cuisines, and restaurant management. A graduate of a cooking school is expected to be able to perform in a professional kitchen successfully, and many cooking schools offer chef placement services to assist their graduates." (as said on Barbara Jordan High School for Careers website- http://www.houstonisd.org/Page/59989). We are one of Houston Independent School District's best culinary arts programs. The culinary art students disagree on HISD trying to shutdown this program. We disagree because how are we going to get into college without at least the basics of culinary arts? Doesn't every single district or school want there students to graduate and go to college successfully and ready with all knowledge given from that school or district?

This program could have been beneficial to me when I was a student 25 years ago.Now that my daughter is front end manager in this program at Barbara Jordan H.S. This is a magnet school that needs as many MAGNET programs as possible.; especially culinary arts that has given vast opportunity for the students to progress in life . Please consider keeping this program as a part of the school's legacy. Thanks so much for the attention

I came to BJHSC for the Culinary Arts Program and for it to be cut would be wrong. Barbara Jordan has the best Culinary Arts Program in the area and i dont want to go anywhere else. Its bad enough they taking away Mr. Hill now they want to take the program to. Thats not fair! Please let us keep our program.

Students that signed up for the culinary arts program were Guaranteed that we were going to stay in this program . It is already bad that Mr. Hill is leaving Us , we would want to graduate with the skills that we learned from since our freshman year . So please keep this program BJHSC wouldn't be anything without it

The culinary program is an awesome program at bjhsc it give young people advantages to seek opprotunities in the real world. Mr Hill is a one of a kind teacher who gives his student his all. Many of the culinary students that i have gotten to know are actually persuing that career. I believe it should stay

The students would benefit from this beyond highschool and into their college and or workforce carrer. This helps set up neccariy foundations for students who are interested in this feild, especially if they can not jump immediately into college and have to pick up diffenryl cullinary jobs for experience. This helps prepare them, helps bring students together and create a strong program that will reflect off your school positively and get more interested. The students here are reaching out because of how important this means to them and if a compromise is possible or to cut differnt classes then we'd be ready to discuss it.

i think that everyone should have an opportunite to choice what career they want to do and not what others want them to be. I went to BJ for one year and it was grat learning on how to get started on Marketing, they have great opportunites for everyone. The Culinary Arts Program is a great progran that they should keep and shouldn't be taken away for students.
