The City Council finally gave in and passed the ordinances to clear our parks and streets. Eight hundred forty-five of us forced them to quit ignoring the mess on our sidewalks. Keep your eyes open because we will ensure they actually enforce these laws.

We the people of Federal Way demand the Mayor and City Council draft ordinances

1. Implementing and enforcing a ban on public camping, including sleeping on benches and at bus stops, right-of-ways, sidewalks, and parks. This includes 'tent cities' on Federal Way property.

2. Implementing and enforcing bans on public use of illegal substances and public intoxication.

3. Creating and funding a homeless service coordinator position to connect the homeless to appropriate services.

The Mayor and City Council continue to ignore the trash and chaos taking over our public spaces while our families avoid parks that used to be safe. I have been documenting the blatant disregard for our laws and sending every single report to their offices to force some kind of accountability. They do not get to pretend this problem does not exist when we are looking at it every single day.

I have lived in Federal Way for 12 years. My husband and I are raising teenage daughters. They should be able to walk to the store without fear of being confronted or attacked by someone high on drugs. It is NOT compassionate to anyone to allow drug addicts to freely use and abuse in our city.

This is ridiculous and so unsafe for our families and children. When I don't feel safe to shop or even travel around my own town, something needs to change. With the homeless shelters being offered, there is no reason why people should be allowed to camp on taxpayers public land. Please pass this ban.

Housing doesn’t solve the problem. My sister is on the streets, she couldn’t handle her own place even when it was given to her rent free. THIS IS A DRUG SND MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEM. Address the REAL issues, not housing.

There are many ways to house the homeless. Putting our children in danger of loose needles, people on drugs and stepping in human feces is not necessary to help humanity. Those who want help can get it.

We need a protocol in Federal Way like what Auburn has. Our mayor says we don't need a camping ban because we enforce it already, but that's just not true. Let's get a protocol in place and actually start to enforce it and make our city safer.

I have lived in Federal Way for the past 44 years and this problem is getting out of control in just the past few years. Trash, trespassing, drug use, assaults, thefts, and shoplifting has got to stop!! And stop enabling drug use from the King County needle vans!

Creating and funding a homeless service coordinator position to connect the homeless to appropriate services. I would love to hold this position! Helping the less fortunate is my core!
