The council finally confirmed the plans for our new skatepark. I spent years missing the energy we had at the old ramp and I am overwhelmed knowing that future generations will have a place to ride again.

Final supporters
If you visited Aviemore during the time of Chevvys bar (now defunct) then you will remember the ramp which sat outside it.
This ramp was the setting for many skateboard competitions/parties & generally good times being had by all, young & old.
After the demise of Chevvys bar (bought by developers & demolished) & then inevitably the ramp, the community around this epicentre was destroyed & displaced, these people have never been given anything to compensate for the loss
of this facility.
Many people left the town & many children gave up their skateboards & bikes in favour of alchohol & breaking phone box windows and this has the potential to be a excellent facility for young and old residents and tourists throughout Badenoch and strathspey .
If you would like to see change on this front with the provision of a new skatepark in Aviemore for all the residents of badenoch and strathspey then

I still remember the feeling of that ramp outside Chevvys and seeing the empty space left behind makes me work harder every single day. People have reached out to share their own photos and memories of those times which confirms that our community needs this space back. I am currently gathering information on potential sites to present to the council so we can finally have a real plan.

Seeing the momentum behind this reminds me of how much we lost when the old ramp vanished. It feels like we are finally starting to rebuild that sense of community we had back in the days at Chevvys.

AVIE MORE NEEDS THIS. used to spend every summer day at the old park. so many good memories there.
Miss the old ramp so much. It was the only place for us to actually go. Fix this now.
Its a shame how much stuff has been taken away from this area. lets get a proper park back for the new generation.
bout time. sick of seeing bored teenagers hanging around the shops when they could be skating.
Would be great for the tourists too. A lot of people pass through and might actually stay if there was something for the youth to do.

The kids have nothing to do in this town honestly. They just hang about and get into trouble because there is nowhere else to go. Bring it back.
