Dear Parents

This year has been an incredibly difficult year for many of us, and, we are now facing a winter of some uncertainty. However, one thing we can be certain of is that we all love our winter sports on the mountain, especially our kids! And, we are all hoping for a great snow season!

This year, however, there is a need to have a booking system in place due to the ongoing situation of the global Covid19 pandemic. This is completely understandable. We have been advised that our kids are automatically booked in for their days on the mountain. This is great news, and we are grateful that our kids will be able to enjoy these benefits.

Unfortunately, it would appear that parents will NOT be automatically booked in on the days their kids are registered, thus causing some serious issues for us to deal with if we cannot get booked in on the same days. For example, parents cannot be expected to just hang out at restaurants, galleries, or worse, just sitting in our cars all day, waiting for our families if we have not been able to confirm a booking. It is unreasonable to expect parents, especially those who are not local, to drop kids at the mountain and drive home, to then return a few hours later to pick them up. We would also suggest that from a safety point of view this would not be ideal.

We believe as parents of kids who are in in programs that we should be automatically booked in for those program days. There is an increase cost for us for our season on the mountain with kids in these programs and this should be considered in terms of “fairness” to other pass holders.

We trust that Vail Resorts will look favorably upon this and take the position that parents of kids in registered programs should be booked in automatically to ski/ride on the same days are our kids do.

Please sign this petition to be delivered to Vail Resorts on our behalf so that they can reconsider their stance on parents/care givers being signed in automatically on the same days their kids are.

I'm aware that to petition something like this during these difficult times comes across as very "first world problem". However, I believe it's a safety issue as it will lessen traffic in and out of whistler during busy times when the roads are potentially bad due to inclement weather. And it will also avoid parents hanging out in doors waiting for kids to finish up. We know from recent studies that long times spent indoors with poor ventilation is one of the major drivers of Covid transmission.

Please Vail Resorts/Whistler Ops see sense here and book care givers in on the same days as their kids.
