Increasing taxes just makes it more expensive to live here. For some, this may be an inconvenience. For others on the margins, it is much more. All costs get passed along.
With the housing appraisals already up to the max and Project Connect rising on top of that, it is making affordability very difficult. I'm close to retirement and will have a fixed income soon. Continual increases in tax makes my homestead unaffordable.
Inflation and considerable increases in amount of property taxes make it difficult for seniors such as myself to be able to continue to reside in my long time home.
Property taxes are forcing people out of their homes. The city must become more efficient and effective with the billions they receive from taxes without further increases and damage to the citizens of Austin.
In all fairness and equity to property taxpayers, the City of Austin should, voluntarily, submit to a third-party independent audit of the city's budget before considering a property tax increase. Taxing entity financial transparency begins with third-party independent financial audits. What's the down side?

I retired and moved here to be near my children and grandchildren. I really don't want to have to move, but your property taxes, the high utilities, all of the prices here are killing me.
