We the people of Indianola Iowa are not in favor of a Property Tax increase at this time. We feel that the goals of the council can be achieved through creative budgeting instead of raising the peoples property taxes.

The growth in support signals that our position on budget reallocation is gaining necessary traction. I am currently preparing formal correspondence for the city council to address these fiscal concerns during the upcoming public hearing.

Taxes are to high now, and several people I know have been talking about moving. Moving to a place that has more to offer for the same amount of taxes paid per dollar.

Our property values skyrocketed and are already being taxed on that. Higher taxes would be like you greedily raised the values so you could get more revenue. You have a surplus on the books already. If they would spend intelligently there would be enough without raising taxes.

Was not the sales tax increase Indianola voted on in 2016 to be used to ease our property tax burden? Were not our assessed property values readjusted upwards 2 years ago? Same old, same old. Pay now & we will not tax U more later. YOU BET! Welcome to Indianola & Bend Over!

How is it fair to raise the property tax for us residents when people are getting laid off and not seeing any improve ya to the infrastructure and the equipment the city employees use. Your plow trucks are from the late 80’s /early 90’s. Maybe look into updating some stuff to save money like using salt instead of sand and get better trucks maybe with wing plows on them to cut down the time it takes to plow the streets. Then with the non use of sand the street sweepers would last longer and do a better job. Just a thought from a citizen that knows a lot about that kind of atuff

Now is not the time to increase property taxes and they do not need to be increased. Why not give an exemption to raises to people over the age of 65? We are on fixed incomes!

Frustrating that they would choose the time when the rest of the US is looking to give breaks during a worldwide pandemic. Very disappointed and frustrated our city council decided this was the time to raise taxes. Delay it, support your base during this time.
