The majority of children born in August start full time education a few days or weeks after their fourth birthday. Research suggests that this can put them at disadvantage not only in education but emotionally and socially, (try typing 'August babies' into Google). We would like parents to have the 'right to choose,' whether they feel their child is ready to start full time Reception class at just aged 4 or just aged 5. At present if parents of August children decide to delay full time education till age 5, their child would have to start in year 1 instead of Reception. Please sign our petition and support August babies. Thank you
