TUITION HAS DOUBLED FOR ALL CONTINUING ATC STUDENTS SINCE THE SLCC/ATC MERGER!! This petition is an attempt to get tuition reduced for ALL continuing students..
As specified in SB-284 Act 767 passed by the Lousiana Legislature in the 2012 Regular Session. ALL continuing students should be allowed to finish their course with no greater cost or condition!! We should be allowed to finish our programs under our original agreements with ATC. SLCC & the Board of Regents say they are "following the law" but I understand it differently and even if they are, what they are doing is not right!!
SLCC has doubled tuition for continuing Acadiana Technical College students at all campuses,
Acadian Campus »C.B. Coreil Campus »Evangeline Campus »Gulf Area Campus »Lafayette Campus »Teche Area Campus »T. H. Harris Campus
While some students were allowed to fill out a Hardship Waiver to assist with this extreme hike, many were not aware of it and most did not qualify. In the near future we will bring this petition and any blog entries to the attention of SLCC officials. Please sign and share asap!!!

I have been hearing from so many of you who are struggling to pay these new bills just to finish the classes you already started. It is exhausting to fight for the promise we were given but I am spending every spare hour holding them accountable for this broken commitment.

Seeing so many of you join this effort has completely overwhelmed me because I know exactly how much this financial burden is hurting our fellow students. We are proving that they cannot just ignore our original tuition agreements while we work to build our futures. Thank you for keeping this pressure on when things felt impossible.

greedy. plain and simple.
i cant finish my degree if they keep raising the price. so unfair to us!
They promised us the costs wouldnt jump like this when the merger happened. Another case of the school not caring about the actual students.
Seriously struggling to make ends meet as it is. Doubling tuition is gonna force a lot of people to drop out.
This is total robbery. How are we supposed to pay double when we already planned our finances based on the original rates? Fix this.

Ridiculous. We signed up for a specific price and they need to honor that agreement. Stop trying to squeeze students who are just trying to graduate.
