"We, the undersigned parents, would like our students in the Elementary, Middle and High School to be permitted to take off their masks while sitting at their desks during instruction time ( while 6 ft apart), as well as during PE inside and outside, when a safe distance can be maintained. We are also requesting that all parents receive timely and detailed communication whenever a COVID-19 related policy is changed (i.e. the mask policy)."

September 23, 2020

I am currently compiling the feedback provided by families to present at the next board session. The recurring themes in these messages reflect a clear need for greater clarity regarding administrative policy changes. I will provide a summary of the outcomes from my communications with district leadership shortly.

The steady growth of this initiative reflects a clear desire from our community to revisit current safety protocols. This shift in momentum confirms that parents value both the health of our students and the quality of their educational environment.

Increased anxiety, communication barriers, long lasting effects on the respiratory system. These and more are all associates with wearing masks for extended periods of time.

When social distancing is being used properly, children should be allowed to have a break from their masks. Other districts are doing it and doing it well- Warsaw can too!

I am very grateful for our school administrations efforts to serve the community in this crazy time. I know is hard and you can’t win. Whatever you decide will upset someone. Thanks for all you guys are doing. My simple request would be to allow the kids to remove their masks while social distance can be maintained. Mainly which sitting in classrooms socially distanced. If there are a few teachers that aren’t comfortable with that my suggestion would be to find other things for those teachers to do. I understand that this would be challenging, but I think this would be a more reasonable standard for our kids. Thanks for you service and your consideration in this matter.

First off; I want to say I’m thankful for all the hard work the admin, staff, and teachers have put into getting our children back to school. We greatly appreciate it. I was disappointed the school changed the mask policy last minute, and didn’t inform parents well at all. We had to make a decision based on what the superintendent told us in the parent zoom meetings.. which was masks off while children are at desks. I would like to see this policy put back into place, AND parents be better informed of changes to policies at school. Again, we thank you for all your hard work, and respectfully would like our parent voices heard.
