70% of students at UVic are not from Victoria, and therefore a majority of them in their first year opt to live on campus to meet new friends, be part of unique communities, and make lasting memories. Many Refresh UVic candidates lived in residence for their first year, and found it a rewarding experience that enhanced their university education.
This fall the University of Victoria has proposed a 13% increase to residence fees. This will not only make housing even more unaffordable on our campus, but will also lead to students taking out more student loans which results in increased student debt.
Sign Refresh UVic's petition to lobby the university and the provincial government to enact legislation that puts a cap on residence fee increases, allows universities to carry debt to both work on deferred maintenance issues as well as build new residences so that students are not forced to pick up the tab.
Let's end Residence Fee increases. Let's do it together.
On March 4-5 vote Refresh UVic to see action taken on important student issues.
RIDICULOUS. my debt is already massive and they want more money for what? same old dorms??
