My name is Linda Acevedo and I am a Special Education teacher at PS 56 Louis Desario Elementary school in Staten Island, NY. On Tuesday March 1, 2022 an amazing young Principal died suddenly. He is thought to have had a heart attack. This amazing man, Phil J. Carollo, was only 49 when he died.

Phil was the most engaged and loving principal to the students that I have ever had the honor to work with. He was loved by almost all who knew him. The entire Staten Island community, from the smallest kids who knew him to the politicians who shape our communities adored him and grieve his loss deeply.

In honor of Phil’s 50th Birthday in April, the NYCDOE is planning to host a school carnival to bring notes of joy and laughter to a school whose hallways are forever dimmer now without Phil’s light and laughter.

I have reached out recently to United Talent Agency ( In particular, his NY Agent and his West Coast agent) to see if Phil’s favorite artist, Post Malone might record a performance of a song (as child friendly as possible of course)and a message of love and thanks to Phil for being an amazing principal, educator , and of course fan. The video could be played at the carnival and/or the for the time capsule ceremony that is designed for Phil’s son (a fifth grader in our school) and the graduating class to bury and reopen when they graduate high school. Maybe a copy could be placed in the capsule.

Sadly I know for a fact that the two agents have read my messages but I have not heard back as of yet. So perhaps you can join me in my journey to reach Post Malone and let him know the family of a dedicated fan and an amazing essential worker, a NYC public school principal, as well as an entire NYC school community could benefit from some prerecorded words of love.

I urge anyone who agrees with me, that a quick prerecorded message could mean the world to a family whose husband died father was taken too soon, as well as to the students and community he served. It would be amazing to for Post Malone to show our students that one man could be so vital that even a famous singer can mourn his passing with them.

Please sign so I can convince his talent agency to let Post Malone know there is a chance he can show kindness to one of the very Educators we heralded as heroes two years ago when he was reading nightly bedtimes students to his students via Facebook so our kids knew he loved them all even when we couldn’t be in the same room with them. Let’s show real service rather than empty lip service. A simple 5-10 minutes on a recorded video shows the world the way he values educators who thought he was amazing and the little children who miss him terribly
