On May 28, 2016 4:00 p.m. EDT a tragic event occurred at the Cincinnati Zoo. The beloved Gorilla Harambe was tragically shot down when a women dropped her kid into Harambe's pit. Harambe was simply trying to protect the kid, but was murdered in cold blood. In honor of our mentor, role model and martyr, we the GCHS student body would like to commemorate his death with a simple act of making Harambe our honorary principal for just 1 day. Seeing how many students still feel the weight of this loss proves we have not forgotten our mentor. The administration remains quiet for now but they cannot ignore the growing number of people who know the truth about what happened at the zoo.

Seeing this movement grow reminds me how deeply Harambe touched all of our lives. The momentum behind this tribute is truly humbling and it proves that our community still honors his memory.
