Ashley Crouch-Davis, a local resident of Waxahachie, Texas, is a phenomenal potter with over 25 years of experience. She has a degree in art and education from University of North Texas and has been an art teacher for about 15 years, teaching all ages from 7-99.
Currently, there is no other pottery studio or teacher in this town.
In her own words “I just want to help bring art and beauty to our town and educate all ages in the arts.”
She has had a tough time getting the City of Waxahachie to allow her to have a studio on her property where she can offer classes and help bring the beauty of pottery making to the community. Let’s show our support for local talent and small businesses by getting as many signatures as we can to show the city officials that Ashley’s pottery studio is something we need in this town!

I was just looking at the count and saw we are almost at one hundred signatures which is honestly kind of wild because I keep thinking about how much easier it would be to just have a wheel out in the open for everyone in town to use. Can you imagine how much better things would be if we could just push this over that mark right now while I am sitting here staring at my kiln and hoping the city finally listens to us.

There are others in the community that have a second building like a garage that is a separate building. If she willing to pay hook up and pay for her studio electricity there is no reason for denying. If you an artist you know you aren’t going to live in it.
The Arts are succumbing to all kinds of budget restraints in our school systems these days. Why not allow an extremely talented teacher the opportunity to teach this God-given talent to others. Please allow her to open a studio for this purpose.
Ashley, her art & abilities are such a boon for Waxahachie, the city absolutely ought to be willing to work with her to enable such an opportunity for budding artists of all ages in Waxahachie to access lessons from a talented artist!
Zoning exceptions are made every day for multi-billion dollar businesses. Support small business AND the arts for a change and allow her studio to move forward.
Most of the other residents in this neighborhood have shops. The only difference is that this is a prefab building instead of a site built shop. There is no reason in the code that this type of building should be excluded. There is no plumbing, so it cannot be used as a living space, She plans to use it as a craft space exclusively .
Yes to a pottery studio
Not allowing something that is legal because of the potential for an illegal action is overkill and anti-small business.

It’s common for a ceramic artist to want a separate meter for their studio because we need to track the cost of running our electric kilns. This should not be a roadblock to letting a ceramic artist have a studio on her property.
