Vision is NYC longest running Jazz Festival. But it is more than that. It is our festival for our creative music and arts. For years, We Artists have looked forward to presenting our work at Vision. Arts For Art / Vision Festival is unlike any other festival. It is run by artists for artists -to help build community and forge alliances and make sure that the contributions of important FreeJazz Artists will be Visible and Celebrated.
AFA receives no support from major corporations.
It is unique in presenting the Founders as well as the new generation of creative improvising artists. AFA works to pass on the ideals to new diverse generations of artists.
AFA stands for idealism and social responsibility.
It runs programs that bring Improvisation to our underserved children.
AFA holds meetings and panels to voice our concerns.
Arts for Art has achieved an important place in the global cultural landscape.
This year several of their major donors find themselves unable to donate at a loss to AFA of over $30,000.
This year the city, after 18 years of consistent support, cut funding to many small organizations, including AFA.

The Vision Festival is an amazing celebration of Jazz and improvised music,poetry and dance. Inviting established world renewed artists and younger practitioners to collaborate and celebrate the music in a peaceful celebratory environment this grass roots festival is world renown and one of the last bastions of NYC culture. You cannot afford to lose it.
Why are so many beautiful offerings expected to thrive with low remuneration? Vision Fest needs Vision Funds.
The Vision Festival is too important and beautiful to risk losing! We jazz audiences and aficionados, friends and neighbors must step up and support the arts if we want rich, authentic culture and community to survive in our gentrified, hollowed out husk of a city. The artists themselves are already making grave sacrifices to keep art alive. Those of us who appreciate them, their contribution and sacrifice have an obligation to support them. And we, the audience, must also press funding organizations harder to fund Jazz and all Black art forms fairly!
This festival is really important for creative music. It makes me dream for years in Europe, and I'm sûre it's the same all over thé World !!! Please save this wonderfull festival
This is one of the most important and forward thinking cultural arts festivals that I've ever attended in my over 30 years attending music festivals.

A round of cheers/applause for the AFA folks for putting on Vision Festival as well as many other wonderful events year round! Vision Festival is a key piece of culture here in NYC and is one of the many wonderful DIY things that make living in this crazy city worthwhile. We need voices like Vision to persist in the face of creeping corporate "culture".
