Fellow neighbors and friends of Amberly,

A rezoning case has been filed by the Sembler Company to change the Lewter Property to commercial land use. This property is located directly across from Walgreens at Carpenter Fire Station and Green Level Church Road adjacent to Arlington Park in Amberly. This land is currently designated as residential use.

We need to come together as a community to fight this rezoning proposal as it directly affects us in Arlington Park. The proposal includes a 110,000 sqft shopping center consisting of 7 commercial buildings with one up to 55,000 sqft and a convenience store open 24/7! There is a secondary entrance to this shopping complex proposed through Northlands Drive.

NOTE: This rezoning is in addition to a proposed rezoning request for 7711 Carpenter Fire Station (the Mills Property) which would include 5 buildings including medical offices and a 180 child daycare. In the proposal 2 single story building and 2 two story buildings were included.

The harmful effects of this project include clearing many trees, burying a blue-line stream, no density transitions (meaning you will be looking at retaining walls, parking lots, loading docks and their lights) as well as the major traffic impact. Neighbors, they are proposing an 800 ft long retaining wall just 70 ft from our home sites! Also, because no left turns will be allowed from the shopping center onto Carpenter Fire Station traffic will be diverted through Northlands Drive.

We need to stand together to support what is in the best interest of our neighborhood. We want our kids to be able to play outside, ride their bikes and wait for the school bus without worrying about people speeding through our neighborhood to a gas station!

Please take the following actions to oppose this rezoning request:

  1. Click the green “sign now” button
  2. Write our local town Representative Jennifer Robinson at [email protected]
  3. Attend all local Town Hall Meetings on this issue

Thank you all for your support on this matter.

this rezoning is unnecessary because there are too many grocery stores in the area. Further, the increased traffic would pose serious safety concerns for the neighborhoods. Do we really need/want another Publix? This residential neighborhood should not be blighted with multi-story commercial buildings. The area should not be rezoned.

I disagree with the rezoning of the Lewter property at Carpenter Fire and green level church . leave some nature in our area please! Too much building in a tight area will lead to congestion and overcrowding and no natural beauty.

Our household in Arlington Park is most concerned about the connection on Northlands Dr into a shopping center. Also, we are concerned about zoning for big box stores. This seems very much against the comprehensive planning and high zoning standards Cary has been known for.

I am signing this petition to oppose the rezoning of Lewter property. Any commercial development at this site will have a negative impact on the property prices and quality of life of existing homeowners within the 0.5 mile radius. The most concerning aspect of the proposal is to connect this commercial development to Arlington park sub-division via Northlands drive. A BIG NO for commercial rezoning of this property.

Why would you consider routing retail traffic through a neighborhood street? And a 24/7 convenience store this close to other homes? We can't stop the development, but we really don't need this! Please consider denying this zoning request!

I oppose cutting down the majority of the beautiful trees that we all enjoy and make our community beautiful. I also oppose a big box store being placed in that location as there's plenty of shopping nearby in the new Parkside Commons and no need for it here. There's more construction going on along highway 55, so perhaps we can keep the majority of the commercial buildings over there since it's already a busy highway convenient to 540. Let's keep it primarily residential over here. The trees, awesome neighborhoods and greenways are the main reason people bought homes here.

Enough development in our area. We moved to Cary 8 yrs ago and all we see are more and more developments. Qe do not need more commercial space. Let them build on NC55.
