UPDATE: This petition was a success!! The Girl and The Vine Received their liquor license!

Form The Owner: "We have been building The Girl and The Vine on a strict budget of our own capital and that of select investors. We are on track to open in a few weeks close to our original budget but our timeline has stretched longer than expected and our budget has been stretched with it. The funds from our Kickstarter campaign will be used to build our inventory and for cash flow that we will need in the first few months of operations in order to cover general operating expenses. Something will also inevitably come up as an unexpected expense and your contributions will help cover those "surprises."

To the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control Board of License Commissioners:

Please accept this petition of strong support for the liquor license application of Kula Hospitality DBA The Girl and The Vine at 7071 Carroll Ave in Takoma Park, MD.

Based on our understanding of its business model, it is our belief that this resident-owned, small business will contribute positively to our commercial district. The prior business owner had a liquor licenses in that building and we have other establishments that serve alcohol nearby on Carroll Avenue that successfully operate in the community.

I look forward to the opening of this new business in Takoma Park.

Thank you,

The owners of this establishment live in Takoma Park. I have known them for the last 5 years and know personally the interest of the community are a priority. I don’t see any reason why they should be denied a liquor license.

Please approve the liquor license for this establishment. Precedent for serving alcohol has been well established in this location since the 80s. I look forward to coming to the vine from either home or work on Aspen or Tulip streets.

As a small business owner a block away for more than 20 years i believe they will be a great addition to our neighborhood. Having met the principles and seen the work they are doing i feel confident they will be responsible members of the community.

There is much public good to have from Small businesses, including this one: helps promote a walkable, more livable community; in such a visible location, it will be terrific to see this key location thrive again, as it has when the cheese cake place was open.

I want to support all the small businesses opening in Takoma Park. Without a liquor license, this cafe will not open. Why would we give a liquor license to many other businesses (The Republic, Roscoe’s, etc), but not this business?

I live around the corner from this business on Pine Ave and enthusiastically support it getting a liquor license. I can't wait to have a place so close by to go with my family for a bite and a glass of wine!

I fully support issuing a liquor license to The Girl and The Vine. Our family misses having a locally owned and welcoming gathering place in that location, and what they're proposing sounds like a perfect fit for the neighborhood.

I've read about The Girl and the Vine and look forward to being able to enjoy their cafe. They seem like experienced and responsible restaurateurs who will be responsive to neighbors' concerns. A new option for buying beer and wine in Old Town would be great!
