This petition asks that the FDA require clear, bold faced labeling on all foods and medicines which state any animal products used in production and their source. For example, a medication may have a label which states "contains pork-based gelatin."
Many foods and medicines contain animal by-products which are not clearly marked on the labeling or listed under unclear terms. It is difficult for the consumer to know what she is ingesting! This is especially important for vegetarians and followers of varioius religious groups with dietary restrictions.
We, the undersigned, ask that the FDA enforce such labeling on all foods and medicines by September 2008 and all dates thereafter.
Sincerely
I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people care about knowing exactly what is in their food and medicine. This momentum belongs entirely to you because I am just the person who started the page. It is truly incredible to see so many people working toward this level of transparency together.

Pork and other animal products have no business being hidden in medicine. Labels need to be plain english so everyone knows exactly what they are taking.
