The petitioners request that FDA require that foods that are genetically modified to be labeled as “GMO” foods. These foods have modified at the gene level from their original qualities to grow bigger, to be more resistant to fungi and herbicides. There is no guarantee that the inserted gene had no damage to our health because genetically modified foods have not been clearly identified. Sixty-four countries around the world including EU, Russia, Japan, and Brazil require GMO labeling while U.S lags behind the rest of the world. United States should protect its citizens from any unforeseeable harm that GMO’s might inflict upon a persons health. It is outrageous that while seventy percent of foods in the USA contain GMO’s, yet it does not require inspections to claim that these items are safe.

We ask the President of the United States to take a firm action and request FDA to take the necessary steps in ensuring that the American public make informative decisions when choosing their nutritional intake by labeling GMO’s.
