Alternative Stonehaven Junction for AWPR Fast-link

The Scottish Govt. should give serious consideration to an alternative design of the Stonehaven fast-link junction. An alternative junction design has been presented to Transport Scotland, which allows the traffic to flow much smoother without any requirements for traffic lights and roundabouts and with very little disruption to Stonehaven. The alternative design proposes to take the traffic from the A90 onto the fastlink by means of a slip road slightly further along the A90 (between the existing Netherley turn off and the matrix sign) A new fly over would be constructed over the A90 in the same place as the off slip, to feed the southbound traffic off the fastlink back onto the southbound A90 and this junction would also create a new slip road off the A90 to replace the crumbling road that currently runs down by the golf course. It would also mean that there would be no requirement to dismantle the existing A90 bridge that runs over the B979 causing many months of disruption to traffic on the A90 during the construction of the junction for the fastlink.
