A post secondary environment is one that is supposed to foster creativity, and freedom of expression. From a topic of classroom debate, to intramural sport teams it is imparative that all things academic remain free on campus.

There absolutely is a right to be offended, especial in civil discourse. But there is also a right to offend. That is how we learn, and that is how we tolerate each other. We are constantly personally offended by many things on campus, We have seen sexism, misogyny and explictly racist things espoused on campus. Do we disagree with their content? Absolutely. Do we work towards suppressing their right to express their views? Absolutely not.

The University of Calgary has barred all team names that ONE student deemed "offensive". We do not support this decision and we are doing everything possible to reverse this ruling.
