The Petition to hold Polsky and Summit College responsible for their inexcusable action of censorship:
Liberation In Progress was BANNED from selling edible art chocolate vulvas in the Polsky Building on The University of Akron's campus. We believe that this is an intrusion on our artistic freedoms and a hindrance to our organization's goals and purpose. Vulvas are not vulgar, obscene or disgusting! ASG and SJA BOTH support our position that Summit College and Polsky had NO RIGHT to ban our bake sale based on its content. Let's make SURE those individuals who tried to stifle our freedoms know that they have NOT succeeded!
We, the undersigned, concerned students/faculty/staff of The University of Akron voice our support of freedom of expression in ALL buildings on campus. There was no excuse for the ban of Liberation In Progress, and the faculty and staff involved acted reprehensibly and should be held accountable!
Please provide your Name and Email and any comments!
Thank you for helping us fight against this ban!!!

I HAVE BEEN SPENDING MY ENTIRE WEEK MEETING WITH STUDENT LEADERS TO GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT THIS RIDICULOUS CENSORSHIP!! THE SUPPORT FOR LIBERATION IN PROGRESS HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE AND WE ARE READY TO DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FROM THE ADMINISTRATION FOR SHUTTING US DOWN!!
November 19, 2010
THE MOMENTUM IS ABSOLUTELY EXPLODING RIGHT NOW!! IT IS SO INCREDIBLE TO SEE EVERYONE RALLYING BEHIND OUR FIGHT FOR ARTISTIC FREEDOM!! THOSE WHO TRIED TO SILENCE US ARE DEFINITELY PAYING ATTENTION NOW BECAUSE WE ARE NOT BACKING DOWN FOR ANYONE!!

Ridiculous that this is even an issue. It is literally just chocolate. Grow up.

UA should be focusing on actual problems instead of policing bake sales. Let them sell their art!

Totally unfair. They are just trying to spread body positivity and awareness. Shame on the administration for this.

What year is this? Censoring art on a college campus is beyond embarrassing. Let the students do their thing.

This is censorship plain and simple. Needs to change right now.
