Odessa Montour Central School should allow graduates who are active military to wear their uniform to graduation instead of a cap and gown. This slight rule change would allow military dress only, therefore it would not allow graduates to wear "whatever they want". Graduates who work hard enough to become active military by graduation deserve to represent their choice.
Seeing this kind of movement is exhausting but it keeps me moving forward. I am drained by the resistance we are facing yet the support you continue to show proves that we are right to demand this change.

Sign the petition! So my son Tailith worked very hard to graduate in January this year because he is joining the Marines and worked with his superiors to time his basic training so that he could attend High School graduation with his brother and friends in June. The problem- Being pretty proud of serving his country he wants to wear his full dress at graduation. The principle says no- he has to wear a cap & gown or only be in the audience. Now I appreciate the fact that the principle is worried that if he changes it for Tailith, then he'll get a bunch of yahoos wanting to wear dumb stuff, but the rules could be changed for active military students only to wear their uniform, but as usual the administration thinks he is just a dumb kid and should shut up & wear the cap& gown.

A Marine uniform deserves respect and may serve as an inspiration to others to serve their country. Semper Fi.

These kids are literally trained to defend our country. Let them wear the uniform with pride. If the school cant see why that matters then they have their priorities totally backwards.
