Charlotte Newbold, now only 13 will be challenging for a National title on Sunday at the 2010 British Championships after winning 1st place at the Northern Home Counties trials. She has been a great ambassador for sport, and in particular judo. We believe that Charlotte should be awarded Southend-on-Sea Sports Awards Young Sports Personality at this years awards. During the period of October 1st 2009 – 30th September 2010, Charlotte has continued to improve and won bronze at the 2010 British Schools Judo Championships on 20th March 2010. Charlotte has helped all players; from her peers to the very young. She has supported at Disability sessions, and has helped coach younger players into the sport of Judo. Elder members of the club have also shown great respect to her contribution to their own Judo. Charlotte has trained at many clubs, including Akitas Barling Magna, Akitas Rayleigh, Akitas Southend, The Mill Judo Club, Wickford Ryu and by invite at the South-East ExCell centre in Redbridge. Charlotte's improvement is testament to great perseverance, talent and desire. If Charlotte continues she will be an Olympic hopeful as early as 2016.
