This petition is addressed to AUC requesting the reconsideration of the recent decision to cancel the academic scholarship.
The academic scholarship is indispensable from any university for significant reasons. It acts as a form of motivation for students to excel in their studies in order to receive the benefits of their hard work. The extraordinary effort that students put into their studies and grades should be in turn rewarded by an institution of higher learning; which should be promoting this effort and encouraging it rather than considering it unworthy of special treatment and consideration.
It is of utmost importance that individuals responsible for this decision realize that the graduating class of 2015 face grave and unfair consequences. There are only a few months left in our school year and we have registered for extra courses, classes, subjects and put in more effort than what is otherwise normally required in order to receive this scholarship. The decision of this cancellation came as a complete and unprecedented surprise to us and therefore all our effort has gone in vain. The American University in Cairo should have given a formal declaration one year prior to this decision which would have saved us hope, money, time, and effort.
We the undersigned request from AUC administration to reconsider their decision to discontinue the academic scholarship at least for 2015 applicants and preferably permanently. This is because it is crucial that a prestigious university such as AUC recognizes academic excellence as a deserving, desirable and valuable trait.

The administration at AUC thinks they can just walk over us and ignore our hard work. We are nearing the first hundred signatures and we need to push past this point immediately to force them to pay attention.

A university without academic scholarship is a business enterprise and not an education institute.
Not only will the university be undermining academic excellence by finalizing such a decision, but alot of people will be unable to afford AUC's tuition. I hope some kind of compromise can be reached, perhaps by decreasing the scholarship percentage or increasing the cutt off GPA.
Academic Excellence should be recognized and rewarded in any prestigious university
Students with exceptional grades should achieve an academic scholarship just like any university world wide.
Too late to inform us of the cancellation when the students have already planned their admissions and effort around it.
