We love our current Mascot, but let's face it, he's a bit dated. Let's adopt Angus the Highlander for a great new look!
Our current Highlander looks like he was based on Mel Gibson from the movie Braveheart. Unfortunately, it's about William Wallace, a Scottish Lowlander and not a Highlander. Angus the Highlander was created after hundreds of hours of research into 16th to 18th century Scottish Highlanders. He was designed to mx aspects of their history with the history of Radford. For example, the traditional clan badge he wears on his hat is based on the beehive seal of the school.
Last semester, the design was presented to the Faculty Senate Committee on Environment and was well received. Angus was the focus of David Rhea's exhibit as part of the Graphic Design BFA show where many students asked if there was a petition they could sign. Now there is. If you are a Radford student that would like to see Angus the Highlander adopted as Radford's new mascot sign the petition today!
(This page does not represent Radford University or any other organization. The sole purpose of this page and petition is to determine if students of Radford University are interested in updating their mascot.)
The one we have now just looks weird honestly. Angus actually looks legit and way more professional.
