Albemarle County has a capital improvement project (CIP) to rehabilitate 4 failing tennis courts to include a combination of tennis courts and pickleball courts.
As we know and understand that
(1) Darden Towe Memorial Park is jointly funded by the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County; and
(2) that the mission of the Parks and Recreation Departments for each of these entities includes provision of recreation facilities for the enjoyment of their respective citizens,
we, the undersigned, would like to demonstrate our support of the CIP to include pickleball courts at Darden Towe to address current and future facility needs for the growing pickleball community in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. We appreciate that the City and the County recognize that pickleball not only has arrived, but is here to stay and will continue to attract increasing numbers of players, ranging from youth to senior citizens.
Dedicated pickleball courts are a fantastic investment in the community, offering facilities for a rapidly growing sport that embraces intergenerational play, keeps our seniors active, and allows for cost-effective use of space. All of this together makes great sense for funding the project. Thank you!
