Pickleball is a sport growing in poplularity. It attracts players from all kinds of racquet sports and those with no sport background. It's accessible, competitive and one of the fastest growing sports in England with rapidly increasing player numbers and club membership.
At Penzance Tennis Club, the back two tennis courts (6&7) are currently used regularly for Pickleball. Four Pickleball courts can fit onto these two tennis courts. Unfortunately, at each session, players have to put down temporary lines.
If permanent lines lines were painted for Pickleball, access would be improved and the sport could flourish in Penzance. It's not complicated or expensive. The lines could be in a suitable colour to avoid distracting tennis players.
Adding these lines would be good for Pickleball - and for the club. Easier access to this fast growing sport would increase club membership. Pickleball access would extend the lifetime membership of tennis players who have another sport to evolve into.
We the undersigned, ask the Penzance Tennis Club to have lines painted for Pickleball.
Pickleball is accessible and ultimately most tennis players will play pickleball later in life. For the younger generation it’s fast and fun to play. PZ should lead the way with outdoor courts.
