Add skydiving drop zone alerts to aviation GPS and navigation apps!
Did you know dropzones commonly are not depicted on aviation gps or navigation apps? As technology becomes more prevalent in aviation, flight planning with paper charts becomes less so. Technology brings increased safety in most regards, but it can also lead to complacency and the tendency to not look into all necessary information as we did before because we assume the technology has our back. The aviation apps and gps' do a fantastic job of this with a multitude of reminders and alerts as we are flying including airspace, other traffic, ground obstacles, terrain, etc. However, dropzones are not accompanied by alerts and commonly not depicted on the digital maps at all. This can present a huge hazard to not only skydivers but aviators as well. It is inherently important that pilots are aware of these operations. So I am therefore asking for signatures to send to the companies that provide these products including garmin, foreflight, etc. asking them to help my fellow skydivers, and fellow pilots continue to coexist in a safe manner.
