A 48 home housing development has been proposed for land within two miles of Jefferson County International Airport (0S9).

This petition is to request that the sellers of the property DISCLOSE the location of the airport in reference to the homes with the understanding that the airport will remain open in perpetuity.

Additionally, that BUYERS of the properties will sign a covenant attesting that they are aware that the property they are purchasing is located within the operational footprint of Jefferson County International airport, and therefore subject to noise and pollution from air traffic. We petition that this procedure is followed each time a property is sold.

The path forward is exhausting and the opposition is not making this easy for us. We are approaching the next milestone and need a final push to ensure our message reaches the officials who can actually act on this.

The proposed housing development WILL receive excessive aircraft noise and anyone who builds or buys a home there MUST be informed, so they cannot get angry and try to shut down operations that were occurring long before they decided to move 2 miles from the approach end of the runway.

Airports like this are vital to both the aviation and local communities. Buyers need to be made aware that they’re moving near an active airport to prevent them from trying to shut it down later under the guise of “I didn’t know it was there”

It is ethical and important that potential buyers of property with in the operational footprint of our essential Jefferson County Airport be informed of unavoidable noise that may be a quality of life issue for them.

Disclosure of existing airport proximity to housing property should always be required in order for an owner to make informed decisions. Critical resources such as regional airports need to be protected.

The vitality and protection of the critical Jefferson County Airport is many times more critical than the addition of a few high-dollar golf course homes. Homes on final and departure corridor for a well established airport are not compatible. Do your job as planners and do not approve this proposal.

I am a frequent user of Jefferson County International Airport. And steps needs to be taken to ensure that a handful of developers and home owners cannot attempt to shut down an airport that has been in place for many decades.

Full disclosure to the buyers -- they need to be informed that the home is near an airport and that the airport is a valuable community resource.

Jefferson Co Airport is a vital community resource. It has a very nice museum and on airport resturant which many people enjoy. I have had many nice visits with the people who live in the community at the resturant.
