As some may be aware the Freestyle Libre is changing the way we manage our sugar levels now. This is a device that removes the need of invasive finger pricking in place of a sensor that is worn in the back of your upper arm. You then use the device to monitor your blood sugars as often as you like.

The idea behind this petition is to gather names of diabetics in Ireland that wish to see the Libre added to the LTI scheme making the management of our condition easier. This will also save on the need to dispose of lancets and other blood sugar tests strips.

Please sign the position that will be sent onto Abbott Diabetes Care Inc and the HSE to push for this product to be added to the LTI Scheme.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam when I first typed it out on my phone during a low blood sugar moment. It really feels like people are finally listening to how much these sensors actually matter for our daily lives and my brain is just spinning with the possibilities of what might happen next.

This will help reduce costs in the long run by helping to improve the HBa1c of diabetics if they use it correctly.

15 years with diabetes and to this day i still struggle.to have to pay so much for something that can make my life so much more easier and normal kills me. Im a social care worker my job is hard enough but to have to work extra to make an extra 1660 just puts so much more pressure on my health. The would be a life safer.

Type1 insulin diabetic. Must keep bgs low to prevent diabetic problems later in life. Have to watch out for hypos as a result. Libre expense now will encourage compliance and reduce future hse millions of costs in the future. Prevention is better that correcting blindness. Kidneys. Foot amputations in the future. We need libre on hse lti scheme now will long term save hse costs.

Hi, We have three kids with T1 and are self funding since December. We got our local TD to raise a parliamentary Question in the past week and he has sent us the Minister's reply together with a letter from the head of Services at the HSE which indicates that the HSE has now got all required information from Abbott and is in the process of considering the application from Abbott to be covered under the Long Term Illness scheme. In previous parliamentary questions te Minister for Health used to say that Abbott had not applied to be covered under LTI so at least this seems a move forward.
